Brian's Life
Before there was a Memorial, a tournament, a scholarship, BCM Sports or Baseball Heaven, there was Brian.
This page preserves his story through family photographs, athletics, music, surviving recordings and family recollections.
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” — Philippians 4:13

The Early Years
Birthdays, Christmases, playgrounds and ordinary family moments preserve Brian as a child growing up, before the Memorial that would later carry his name.

Childhood Home Video
Brian Meets Santa Claus
A surviving family home video preserves Brian as a young child visiting with Santa Claus.
In portions of the recording, Brian sits with Santa while holding a small toy guitar—an especially meaningful childhood image when viewed alongside the role music would later hold in Brian's life.
Archive note: The original recording date has not yet been confirmed. It is therefore preserved here as an undated childhood Christmas recording rather than assigned a specific year.
Watch on YouTubeGrowing Up Through Sports
Baseball appears repeatedly in Brian's photographic record, alongside basketball and martial arts.

Baseball
Photographs document Brian playing across multiple childhood seasons.

Basketball
Brian's athletic childhood extended beyond baseball.

Martial Arts

Brian's teenage years mark the transition from childhood activities into high-school identity.
School, athletics, family milestones and the letter jacket become part of the surviving record.

Music
Guitar, band and original recordings became an important part of Brian's high-school story.
Brian the Friend
Classmates, Teammates & Friends
Brian's story was also shaped by the people who shared these years with him—classmates, teammates, band members and friends.
As this archive grows, photographs, documented memories and submitted recollections from those who knew Brian can be preserved alongside the family, athletic and musical record already assembled here.

Brian the Athlete
From T-Ball to Senior Night
Baseball runs through Brian's photographic story from childhood into his senior year.
The archive preserves T-ball, youth baseball, the Oklahoma Braves, Prague High School batting and pitching, first base, senior portraits and Senior Night with Mom and Dad.
#13 became an enduring visual symbol associated with Brian and the Memorial created in his name.
Brian the Musician
Band, Baritone, Guitar & Original Music
Brian's high-school story cannot be told through baseball alone.
He participated in Prague High School band, played baritone, played guitar and left behind recordings that allow visitors to hear his voice and music today.

Looking Forward
The day before Brian's accident was centered on music and the future.
According to family recollection, Brian attended a university music audition. He performed on baritone while his mother accompanied him on piano, and Brian was awarded a music scholarship following the audition.
During the visit, the family purchased a university T-shirt. Brian was wearing that shirt the following day.
This account is preserved as family recollection. Contemporary documentation relating to the audition and scholarship will be added if located.

The Night Before
A father's first-person recollection of Brian's final night at home.
Kenneth Crawford was studying late for college finals in an office next to Brian's bedroom while Brian played his guitar. Kenneth remembers repeatedly asking Brian to turn the music down and remembers Brian playing Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man.
Later, after Brian had gone to sleep, Kenneth walked past his bedroom and thought about going in to check on him and tell him that he loved him. Brian was asleep, and he did not go in.

Brian's Life Story Ends Here
Brian died following an accident on April 27, 2005, at age 18.
The historical archive preserves the contemporary news report, funeral announcement, Memorial Service and community response. Those records belong to the next chapter—not because they define Brian, but because they document how his family, friends and community began carrying his memory forward.

The Story Continues
His Life Ended. His Legacy Continued.
The next chapter begins with remembrance and follows the Memorial, early fundraising, tournaments, scholarships, community projects, BCM Sports and the continuing legacy in Brian's name.
